Dancing the Divine Feminine

Discover how the divine feminine appears vividly in the art of Middle Eastern dance and in the dancer in this presentation and performance. After a brief exploration of the origins, history, and styles of Middle Eastern dance, we will discuss the contemporary state of the art and reflect on the relationship of the dancer to the divine feminine. A live performance of Raqs Masri, the basis of all contemporary Middle Eastern dance, will follow as an illustration of the techniques to be learned in

Egyptian Orientale
This six class series focuses on the basic elements of Egyptian Orientale Dance Technique including: hip and shoulder shimmies, pelvic articulations (drops, lifts, slides, '8's, etc) abdominal undulations and accents, and specific floor patterns and footwork. Classes progress to include more complex movement sequences and eventually culminate with specific choreography combinations. 
Beginners welcome.

Unlock the mysteries of the Hand of Fatima, a beautiful, fascinating symbol of power and healing found throughout the Middle East and -orth Africa. Symbolizing both the five pillars of Islam and the five most highly regarded members of Islam, the Hand also symbolizes universal, feminine, and mystical traditions found in the hearts of devotees throughout the world. We will explore the ancient and modern meanings of the Hand of Fatima through stories and symbolism found in images, tales, music, and dance.
